I Dare You Book Tag

I found this tag on The Literary Huntress and it sounded super fun! The tag was created by bookfandom1001.

Are you ready to learn a bit about me and my books? 🙂

📚 WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN ON YOUR SHELF THE LONGEST?

I just put a bunch of my books into storage, so on my current shelf? The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volumes I and II. I’ve had those for years, and have started reading them to my husband.

📚 WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT READ, YOUR LAST READ, AND THE BOOK YOU’LL BE READING NEXT?

Current Read: This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada (releasing November 7, 2017) and Come Back to Me by Mila Gray.

Last Read: The Best Man’s Proposal by Wynter Daniels (releasing September 18, 2017) and Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman (releasing September 26, 2017).

Next Read: The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed (releasing October 10, 2017) and Stay with Me by Mila Gray.

📚 WHAT BOOK DID EVERYONE LIKE BUT YOU HATED?

HEIR OF FIRE. Ugh, I hated that book so much.

📚 WHAT BOOK DO YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOU’LL READ BUT YOU PROBABLY WON’T?

The Witches by Stacy Schiff. It’s so boring. I want to read it and learn, but I fall asleep as soon as I open it.

📚 WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU SAVING FOR RETIREMENT?

All the nonfiction on my Kindle, haha.

📚 LAST PAGE: READ IT FIRST OR WAIT UNTIL THE END?

Wait until the end. I tend to go into books with little to no information.

📚 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: WASTE OF PAPER AND INK, OR INTERESTING ASIDE?

I love reading the acknowledgements. It allows a glimpse into the author’s brain, and I love that.

📚 WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?

Uhh. Jamie Watson? Because I want to be Charlotte’s friend super bad, mostly.

📚 DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING SPECIFIC IN YOUR LIFE? (PLACE, TIME, PERSON)

Yes! I read Good in Bed while I was in India, and when I think about it, I’m immediately sent back to reading it in the restaurant of the hotel, eating food I was completely unfamiliar with, missing home something fierce.

📚 NAME AN INTERESTING BOOK THAT YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY.

I got an ARC of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns at BookCon. I missed the time when they were giving them away, but ran into an older guy who was holding one. I asked him where he got it, and he told me, but then he said they’re already out. I told him he was lucky to get one, and he handed it to me and said “I’m not going to read this. You can have it.” It was one of the nicest moments I experienced at BookCon. ❤

📚 HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?

Yes. I ended up with two copies of A Study in Charlotte, and I knew the person I wanted to have the second was my cousin/younger version of myself. So I gave it to her and told her not to lose her sense of curiosity.

📚 WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?

11/22/63 went with me a lot of places, because it took me so dang long to finish it.

📚 ANY REQUIRED READING IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD?

Hamlet.

📚 USED OR BRAND NEW?

Both!

📚 HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?

Yes – I’ve read Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code.

📚 HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MOVIE YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE BOOK?

The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I might be in the minority, but I loved that movie so  much.

📚 HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HUNGRY (COOKBOOKS INCLUDED)?

I have a cupcake cookbook that always makes me hungry.

📚 WHO IS THE PERSON WHOSE BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?

Dahlia Adler! She hasn’t steered me wrong yet (and I love her books too).

📚 IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (E.G. OUTSIDE YOUR USUAL READING GENRE) THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?

Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles by J.M. Sullivan. I hate zombie stuff, but that book was so fun.

What did you think? Fun, right? Feel free to play along! (I’m not going to tag anyone, so to anyone reading this, consider yourself tagged!)

Happy reading!

-A.
