Top 10 Tuesday – Books I Would Assign If I Was a College English Professor

Hey hey, it’s Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is run by The Broke and the Bookish, and I’ve been participating since the beginning of July or so – I’m happy that it’s becoming a regular weekly post on this here blog. This week is another fairly open-ended topic – something related to back-to-school. There have been many times in my life since I left college where I thought being an English professor would be fun, and I’m going to play that game now. Since I have 10 books on this list, we’re going to pretend it’s a full-year class, a part 1 in the fall and a part 2 in the spring, because 10 books is a lot for a single semester. My imaginary class is called Brave Women in Books, and I’m super excited about it. So! Without further ado!

Top 10 Books that Would Be on the Syllabus for Brave Women in Books

8. Ms. Marvel, Volume 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson
9. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
10. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Note: If I was the professor of this course, I would have the first five books in the fall semester and the second five in the spring semester – older books mixed with books with clear historical influences, then more modern books. I’m not actually teaching this class, but I would be pumped to hear the discussions that would take place.
