Top 5 Wednesday – Second Book is Best

Happy Hump Day – it’s Top 5 Wednesday! As a reminder, Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly roundup of cool/fun bookish things that is hosted by Sam over at Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. You can visit the Goodreads group for topics (and such, as Sam always says). Anywho! This week, was hard for me. As a whole, I disagree with Sam on this topic – I usually hate second books. There are some exceptions, obviously, but this topic was rough. I ended up cheating a bit – I had to go into the Twitter and Tumblr universes to find some that I owned and hadn’t read yet. So! I was able to scrounge up five books where the second is the best.

*Note: One is the second book in a duology (lol). Three are the latest in incomplete trilogies (LOL). And the last, I haven’t read the third book in trilogy yet (LOLOL). Like I said, I cheated.

Top 5 Cases where the Second Book is the Best

80917

  1. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
  2. Now I Rise by Kiersten White
  3. The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro
  4. Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco
  5. PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han

So since I cheated, I’m curious what y’all think of what I ended up choosing. Feel free to chime in!

Happy reading!

-A.
